Alcatraz Mobile PINPad
Installation Components
The Citrix Pin Authenticatin Service has the following components, each separately selectable:
- Pin Pad Authentication Services in XenApp. This is providing extra layers of authentication protection for XenApp delivered applications to mobile devices running Citrix Receiver. It includes Pin Authentication Service which is running on IIS Web Services and Pin Authentication Database.
- Pin Pad Authentication in XenApp. This includes PinPad UI and Session Watchdog.
Installing the all components onto a single XenApp server
To launch the installer, click on PinAuthService.msi

2. Read the license agreement and accept the terms.
3. Select the components that you want to install, by default two components are installed.
4. Specify the Database server and enter a database name for the PinAuth Service, then Test to validate:
5. Select “Install” to begin the installation
6. Select “Finish” to complete the installation
7. To launch the installer, click on PinAuth.msi
8. Select “Next” to begin installing Alcatraz PIN Auth Setup
9. Accept License Agreement
10. Click “Next” to accept default install location
11. Enter “PinAuthService URL”
12. Select “Install” to complete installation
13. Select “Finish” to complete installation
Configuring PIN Authentication Service
Add IIS Management Console Role Service if it is not on the IIS Server hosting PinAuthentication Service.
Create a Self Signed Certificate:
1. Select “Server Certificate from IIS Manger
2. Under “Actions”, “Create a Self-Signed Certificate”
3. Specify a name for the certificate:
4. Goto the “Default Web Site” and select “Bindings” from the actions section
5. Select “Add”
6. Change “Type” to https, and select the certificate you created under “SSL certificate”, select OK
ISAPI and CGI Restrictions
1. Double click “ISAPI and CGI Restrictions” at the top level
2. Change both ASP .Net V4.0.3…. to Allowed from Not Allowed
Troubleshooting
If the pinpad is present during a desktop session
1. Go to the insatllation directory of Pin Authentication Service and find Pinpad.exe.config XML. Edit the file with a text editor with administrative privilege.
2. Change “MonitorConsoleSessions” to false to prevent the PINPad from locking your desktop.
If Alctraz cannot connect to the database
1. Use Regedit and go to HKLMSoftwareWow6432NodeCitrixPinAuth
2. Check that the”PinAuthServiceUrl” is the FQDN of your server
If the Pinpad is not apprearing
1. Confirm the “Citrix PIN Authorization Watchdog” service is started and set “Startup type” is set to Automatic.
