Set guest VM (Ubuntu 18.04) IP address from Hyper-V host

I’m using Hyper-V servers 2012 R2 and Server 2016 Datacenter, and i’m using this script to set IP to VMs https://www.ravichaganti.com/blog/set-or-inject-guest-network-configuration-from-hyper-v-host-windows-server-2012/

This works perfectly for Windows, Ubuntu16,Centos6/7/8 but fails for Ubuntu 18.

Integration service installed as per this guide:https://vroomtech.io/hyper-v-linux-integration-service-on-ubuntu-16-04-lts/

I can get Ubuntu VM IP by Powershell, current IP is seen from Hyper-V console.

Is there any way to set IP through Powershell for Ubuntu 18 ?

VHDX is not supported in operating systems earlier than Windows Server 2012

I converted VHD to VHDX with Windows Server 2008 inside on a test machine and it successfully booted.

Inside VM itself I didn’t notice any fails or errors after conversion.

As far as I know an OS inside a VM and a VM itself do not care about virtual disk type so it is not related to a guest OS.

At the same time Windows Server 2008 hypervisor doesn’t give an option to create a VHDX so it is not related to a host OS.

Just out of curiosity what "This format is not supported in operating systems earlier than Windows Server 2012." is related to?

Moving Windows Server OS(Hyper-V Core) for clustered Hyper-V hosts from USB thumb drive to SSD

Hi, we have three clustered Hyper-V hosts. They are running on Hyper-V Core OS on USB thumb drives. As the USB drives are getting old, we are planning to move the OS to newly purchased SSD. VMs are located at SAN storage. What will be best way to move
or clone Hyper-V core to SSD? Thank you for your help.

Cannot update integration services

Hi,

I’m using Hyper-V Server on Windows Server 2012 R2, and Guest OS Windows Server 2012 R2, I see at the bottom that update of integration services is required. So in Guest OS inserted media and started installation, I get information that "previous installation
of hyper-v has been detected 6.3.9600.18907…" Installed rebooted Guest OS, but after that I see at the bottom of Hyper-V server that update is required, even if I refresh everything.

How could I troubleshoot this issue, is there any logs?
